After watching a "Walker: Texas Ranger" episode, I ran into a verse quoted there and it's one of my favorite verses, saying:

"Blessed are the poor of spirit, for their's is the kingdom of Heaven
Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy
Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the Children of God</i>"

Why are these blessed?

The poor of spirit will want God for love, not for glory.
Those who mourn have loving hearts that are not harden.
The meek will strongly speak only when it is right.
Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness want truth, justice, and love for the world, not hate or anger.
The merciful cherish life, not tarnish it.
The pure of heart want God's truth, not a sugar-coated lie about him.
And the peacemakers know that God wants peace and light, not war and darkness.
