Other Species of Isla Sorna

Description

The dinosaurs before weren't the only species on Isla Sorna and/or Jurassic Park, these next ones are the ones that weren't observed closely in the first trip to the island. When Levine returned to Isla Sorna, he closely studied them and came with this information:
------------------------------------------
Name: Hypsilophodon
Meaning: High-Crested Tooth
Time Period: Early Cretaceous
Native Land: Europe
Height: 3-4 ft
Length: 6-7 ft
Weight: 100-140 lbs
Diet: Herbivore; young shoots, herbs, and roots
Genetic or Other Abnormalities: Gender-changing trait
Danger: harmless unless provoked
Info: These are like the deer and antelope of Isla Sorna and Jurassic Park; lower prey, extremely cautious, bottom of the food chain, and very common. As with the Maiasaura, compies, and raptors, Hypsilophodons can change from female to male in a single-gender environment. With that new trait and their orginal traits, they are the most thriving creature on the island. It has to, because its in all of the predators' menu and the population needs to keep growing. They live in herds up to 40s or 60s in good times, but 10 to 17 in bad times. Also, they're pretty fast creatures, the second fastest herbivorous dinosaur on the island (second fastest dinosaur on the island compared to the raptor).

Name: Mussaurus
Meaning: Mouse Lizard
Time Period: Late Trassic
Native Land: South America
Height: 5 inches
Length: under 1 ft
Weight: 100-120 g
Diet: Herbivore; moss, lichens, herbivore table scraps, and berries
Genetic or Other Abnormalities: salamander's neotenic trait (having juvenile size in adulthood)
Danger: harmless
Info: It is the smallest dinosaur on Isla Sorna and what InGen created. This creature's lifestlye is very similiar to a ground squirrel's; live fast and die young. Its in the menu of compies, young predators, snakes, and mostly carnotaurs. They're both cautious and curious about something new.

Name: Microceratops
Meaning: Small Horned-Face
Time Period: Late Cretaceous
Native Land: Asia
Height: under and around 1 ft
Length: under 3 ft
Weight: 4 lbs
Diet: Herbivore; nuts, fruit, leaves, and buds
Genetic or Other Abnormalities: fourth toes works like a thumb
Danger: harmless unless threatened
Info: This the smallest ceratopsian and one of the two certopsians on the island. They take the place of monkeys and macaws on the island. They're one of the most noisiest dinosaurs on the island. They live deep in the forest on the tree tops, jumping from branch to branch. Since they live in the trees, not much hunts them; though a rex, raptor, compy, or a carnotaur could get a chance when they get close to the ground. But, a boa constrictor or eagle (which are rare on Isla Sorna) is basically their major predator in the trees.

Name: Gallimimus Bullatus
Meaning: Chicken Mimic
Time Period: Late Cretaceous
Native Land: Asia
Height: 9 ft
Length: 18 ft
Weight: 1000 lbs
Diet: Omnivore; small aquatic creatures and plants (more like a duck or goose)
Genetic or Other Abnormalities: lack of feathers and duck's feeding habits and beak.
Danger: Harmless Unless threaten
Info: Gallimimus is a specialized feeder and feeds on a duck's diet. So it has to live in and around a habitat thats pretty uncommon on Isla Sorna, a swamp. And the only swamp habitat on the island about 2-3 square miles large. So specialized, that Levine even got a count on how many gallimimus' are on the island; about 139 individuals, not including the vast numbers of infants recently hatched (55 unrelated males and 84 distantly related females). The gallimimus' biggest trouble in life is with the procompsognathus (since rexes, raptors, and carnotaurs mostly avoid the swampy land, since the mud can trap a predator dead). But when the swamp dries out in the dry season, the gallimimus' are forced to live by the rivers in the forest and valley until rainy season comes. At that time, all the other predators can have a go at the quickly advancing population of these creatures. Its good because the swamp can't support more than 550 individuals when its in full power.

Name: Ornitholestes
Meaning: Bird Robber
Time Period: Late Jurassic
Native Land: North America
Height: 4-5 ft
Length: 9-10 ft
Weight: 25 lbs
Diet: Carnivore; small creatures, birds, mammals, lizards, frogs, eggs, carrion, and stegosaur young
Genetic or Other Abnormalities: Chameleon color-changing trait (not like the Carnotaurus), emu's size, raven's IQ, flexible wrists, and some raptor traits (vocal cords, jaw muscles, gender-changing trait, nervous system, and leg muscles)
Danger: Leave alone
Info: This is one of the rarest dinosaurs on Isla Sorna and previously unknown in Jurassic Park. It lives in the deepest parts on the forest, rarely seen (due to its camoluage trait, shyness, and speed). While it does hunt small animals and eggs of other dinosaurs, its a main predator to the young of stegosaurus and, sometimes, apatosaurs (not without alot of competition from Carnotaurus). It does get confused for raptors for its calls and speed, but its not as dangerous as a raptor (but it would be wise to leave it alone anyway). They use their color-changing behavior not to just for hiding from enemies or attract a mate or show it's temper, but to trick raptors too. It can change its color to looks like a raptor, to scare most enemies and can slip into raptor territory, carrion, and nesting grounds without being attacked.
